Why Mended?
Fatherlessness is at an all-time high in our society. One in Four
children in the United States are growing up without a Dad in their
home. These children struggle with fewer opportunities, feelings of
abandonment, and a lack of hope. What if these kids had an opportunity
to experience something different? Hope-filled, fun-filled adventures
with a group of men and women can reassure them that they are not
alone and they are loved. This is why Mended Fly Fishing exists. Our
mission is to bring hope to fatherless youth by mentoring them through
regular guided fly fishing trips. We believe that the beauty of a day
on the water is enough to jar a young person to stand in awe of
creation and to temporarily forget any hopelessness they may
experience. We take our students on regular trips until they graduate
from high school, forming relationships and bonds that allow us to
mentor them through life. These trips stand as beacons of hope on the
calendar, and our prayer is that they will transform these young
people forever.
